We're not the oldest kid on the block, but over the last fifteen years in the climate control and power business we've proven that we're one of the toughest. The founders of QAS, Marc Grostefon and Tim Blauvelt, both worked as engineers for other HVAC companies before starting on their own. Their first break came along when they became the primary distributor for York products in northern Indiana. After incredible success developing installations for York, it didn't take long for QAS to earn contracts distributing Liebert, Rupp, Emerson, ClimateMaster and many others.

Many companies take pride in having huge staffs to complete their projects. But at QAS we think a little different-we owe our success to our small, close-knit team. That's where our name, Quality Applied Systems, comes from - our commitment to quality. Quality is our first name.

Marc Grostefon, President
ENVIRONMENTAL SALES

Marc received his education in manufacturing technology at IPFW, then went on to work as an HVAC engineer for several companies. When he eventually worked up to an administration position he asked himself: "Why am I working for someone else? I should be working for myself." And so QAS was born with the help of his business partner, Tim Blauvelt, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Beyond his role as president, Marc handles Environmental sales involving heat pumps, boilers, and make-up air systems. He sees QAS doing great things in the future, but not necessarily trying to get bigger: "QAS is about quality, not quantity. We keep the business small so that we can stay focused at being the best at what we do."

In his spare time Marc enjoys working on cars, oil painting, and photography. Marc's favorite saying...."Get er done"!

Tim Blauvelt, Vice President
ENVIRONMENTAL SALES

Tim began his career working for Schenkel-Shultz as a Mechanical Engineer. When Marc Grostefon came along and offered Tim a partnership to start QAS, the timing couldn't have been better. After 8 years of service, Schenkel-Shultz was going the way of so many large companies and eliminating Tim's position.

Tim is QAS' pointman for chillers, critical environment units, and system application. After 25 years in the business, he knows environmental systems like the back of his hand.

In his spare time Tim enjoys playing sports, especially baseball and basketball. Tim is also an excellent musician - he can really wail on the banjo. You probably have never heard of a person wailing on the banjo, have you? Well Tim can, he's that good. Ask him about it.

Mary Huis
OPERATIONS MANAGER

Mary is someone our partners and clients rely on long after their environmental or power systems have been installed. Mary manages our extensive parts department, takes care of our accounting, human resources, inside sales and also our resident computer support specialist.

Mary is a big fan of tennis, volleyball and fast-pitch softball. She likes spending her leisure time with her husband, children and grandchildren, gardening, reading and being outdoors.

Scott Masterson
POWER SALES

Power supply and back-up is the fastest growing part of our business. With so many companies relying on computer networks to keep their operations running, they need back-up systems they can trust. So, when we were looking for someone to be our power-systems pointman we knew we had to find someone good.

Enter Scott Masterson. In addition to being a college-trained electrician, Scott spent 13 years as a commercial electrician. He also worked as a manufacturing foreman. Needless to say, Scott knows his way around electricity.

Scott's the father of 2 girls and a boy and an avid outdoorsmen. Despite his expertise in all things electrical, Scott gets a real charge out of being in nature camping and mountain-biking.

Kim Eby
Administration / Project Tracking / Warranty

Kim is the one you can count on for all your order entry and tracking needs. Kim works closely with all the factories to coordinate shipping, and tracks your projects closely, to ensure your equipment arrives at the job site as requested. Once the equipment has arrived, Kim schedules startup and makes sure all the necessary manuals are on the job, she is your "go-to-gal". After the project, Kim assists with warranties and parts.

Kim enjoys spending time with her three children, reading, traveling, and NASCAR.

Angelina Eberhardt
Administration / Project Tracking / Warranty

Angelina just started at QAS as a administrative assistant in South Bend. She is very happy to be a part of of the QAS family. She will handle the tracking of equipment from the factory to the job site. She will also be involved in the warranty and parts department in South Bend.

More than anything, Angelina enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful children. She also enjoys watching NFL football (Colts / 49ers), college football (Go Blue!), and baseball (Go Cubs Go ! This is their year !). She also enjoys...food and shopping...just ask her husband.
